They are 8 feet wide & they can be either standard height (8’6’’) or High Cube (9’6’’).
They are made to withstand a static weight of 213,000 lbs. Ask our structural engineers how.
There are many ways to maximize the inner space, including insulating on the outside, using narrower studs & choosing a high cube container

Modified shipping containers are structurally secure, customized, safe and cost-saving solutions for your business. While we specialize in modular architecture and construction made from a variety of materials, shipping containers are the basis for many of our projects. Custom modular buildings made from shipping containers are endlessly modifiable and durable enough to withstand the elements. When done properly, permanent prefabricated buildings made out of shipping containers are:
On a per-square-foot basis, shipping container construction can be considerably cheaper than a conventional build. Not only are the raw materials less expensive, but there is less labor involved in the construction process, which reduces your overall costs.
Shipping container offices and buildings can be comprised of one or multiple modular units — the design possibilities are endless! Options for shipping container customization include hardwood or laminate flooring, windows, doors and more. Multi-story units are also available, as containers can withstand over 200,000 pounds.
Shipping container construction projects are faster to complete as modular units arrive at the job site almost fully assembled. BMarko is able to quickly turn around individual components and deliver them to your location, greatly reducing your time to occupancy.
By reusing and essentially repurposing shipping containers to create your custom modular buildings, you are joining the thousands of people who are set to make the construction industry one that is environmentally friendly.
While custom modular buildings present a range of design possibilities, there’s no denying they possess a unique look many people find stylish and attractive.
Shipping containers are available in several different lengths. While most are either 20 or 40 feet, it’s possible to find longer or oddly sized units. For container modification purposes, however, these standard sizes present the best range of affordable and flexible options. Most containers measure 8 feet wide and are either 8’6” or 9’6” tall. Again, while it’s possible to find units deviating from these dimensions, most permanent custom modular buildings are based on one of a few standard sizes.
Shipping containers are graded based on their condition. “New” units will have made just one trip across the ocean and are generally free of dents and other damage. Good condition used units, typically between three and seven years old, are deemed “cargo worthy” and are relatively free of damage. Retired shipping containers — those that are no longer cargo-worthy — are generally older units that show their age more prominently.
Almost any shipping container can be fixed and made into an attractive and functional permanent prefabricated building. New units in better condition will cost more to purchase, but they will require less work to refurbish.
When you’ve made the decision to go modular with your restaurant, classroom, office or other building, BMarko can help. We will assist you with all stages of the construction and planning processes, from choosing a suitable container for your build, going over your requirements and drafting a custom design, and overseeing installation on your site.
